As a team of five experts in the fields of perfume and dermo cosmetics we set ourselves the mission to create an anti-mosquito that consumers could enjoy wearing daily, as part of their wellbeing routine, one that not only smelt really good but also offered exceptional efficiency
Our story began with a simple question... Why can't an efficient anti-mosquito also smell really good?
Stephanie and Celia are frequent travellers and throughout their travels observed a reduced use of mosquito repellents all over the world, despite a real and rapidly growing risk of diseases (dengue fever, chikungunya, malaria, etc.) The problem appeared to be that products that offered high protection were unpleasant to use and the nice 'natural' products containing essential oils were not effective enough, or suitable for young children or breastfeeding mums. An obvious alternative was needed, a repellent that was both efficient, suitable for the entire family AND a pleasure to use. Working alongside Gemma, their business partner from the UK, the BODYGUARD® concept was born, a fragranced Anti Mosquito that consumers could enjoy wearing as part of their everyday routine.
Our Formula
We spent a full 2 years in Research & Development, looking for the perfect combination of repellent and fragrance. When creating our formula we consulted closely with medical doctors, specialist laboratories, medical epidemiologists, entomologist and perfumers.
The Science
BODYGUARD® contains the active insect repellent IR3535 (20% concentration) which has been created by an incredible scientific team that has been studying mosquitos for over 30 years. This molecule is endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and also recommended by other important governing bodies such as the CDC (Centre for Disease Control) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). It works by masking your body’s natural scent so the mosquito can’t locate you... like your own invisible Bodyguard! It is biodegradable and causes no harm to the environment or the mosquitos!
